Laughatorium!

Laughatorium
The Laughatorium, is a small room where you cram a bunch of people into it, then blast them with laughter. I’m not sure what is supposed to happen next but, I can assume that some of the people in the room will start laughing then soon the whole crowd will be laughing. At some point the laugh track will not be needed at all. Perhaps the idea of this small room crammed with people will be the kindling for this blaze of laughter.
Apparently this idea is not new, it was shared to me by Allegra, who heard it from some South African man who said these “Laughatoriums” are all over South Africa. I did a little research and couldn’t find any information on these things. I might look into this more if I have some time.
The idea is really awesome. I could see several uses for these little rooms. Making it portabler would allow you to visit large corporations who like to spend money on “team building” exercises and stuff like that. Perhaps laughter might be more popular than a cup of coffee in the morning. Perhaps pumping a little more oxygen into the room might help people get some good laughter going. It also might be nice to have some funny or interesting drawings inside the room to really add to the experience. The Laughatorium might also serve well as a promotional piece. I think it might be worth building and setting up downtown. There must be numerous health benefits to this sort of device, I guess we won’t know until we build it and test it on people.

Flash Forward 2006

MoHDI has come a long way in 2006. Before this site, my site was www.plastichut.com one of the more fun things I did at PlasticHut was a piece about Flash Forward in Seattle. You can see how some ideas have changed and evolved by checking this out. I don’t think that this work got the ammount of eyes on it as I would have liked. Feel free to create a Monstor and leave a comment at the bottom of the page. If you are having problems hit refresh. I think some of my code might be wonkey.

Awesome Time!

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

While working on this What Dream is Brewing in You? contest. I thought it would be nice to have a small timer to time my pitch. Then I thought, other people might think they too might be thinking that they could find good use for a timer like this.

The version you see here ( if you have flash8 player) is a simple version of the one I plan on selling in the MoHDI shop.
The version we will be selling will give you way more options than this one and will could be a very useful tool. I imagine the final version will sell for $1-$3, I plan on making a version for mobile devices as well.
There are several uses for something like this, some of them might even be practical.
The awesome clock is simple and easy but, has potential to earn a few extra dollars and requires very little work on my part to ship the product. I love the tangible products but a lot more work goes into shipping them out and sometimes production of them.
The final version of “Awesome Time” is due to release sometime next early year. If you have feature requests please comment on this post.

funnuf.com guerrilla marketing

FunnuF

When you are a small company without loads of money, it’s important to get creative when it comes to marketing. Our latest test is a combination of a new site preview and a guerrilla marketing campaign. Using some poorly made sidewalk chalk we simply wrote the name of our new site funnuf.com in a few locations around Portland. If the results are good from this little test, you will be sure to see some more eloquent displays of our chalk ads around town.
Ideally our results will tell us about how many visitors, came to the site from seeing the ad then how many visitors are interested enough to sign up, and if the visitors ended up here at mohdi or not.

If you happend to find this site from one of the chalk ads or funnuf.com for that matter, please comment on this post.

As the numbers look now, I’m not seeing a massive response from the footwalkers in PDX.
I do think these ads can be effective if executed properly. I really look forward to finding out the results from a little chalk work. Hopefully our ads didn’t piss too many people off.

Bacon is Hot!

gummy bacon

Bacon products are on fire right now. The bacon fever seems to be growing on a daily basis. Here at MoHDI, we’ve been thinking about cashing in on this market.
Here are a few ideas we have that are wrapped around bacon.

  • Bacon charts and graphing tools
  • Long bacon scarf
  • Chocolate dipped bacon treats
  • Bacon jewelry
  • Bacon headbands
  • Bacon themed parking spot stripes
  • Bacon….

There are a ton more where that came from. Some of these bacon ideas are too fantastic to share right now.
I’m just saying if you want to make an extra hundred dollars or so, you should come up with some product or service, perhaps use an existing one and then work some bacon into the thing your selling.
You could really make hundreds of extra dollars this way!
Keep your eye on the bacon brands of 2007, you are going to see a lot of them.

GJ’s Dry Erase Gourd.

dry_erase_gourd

Once again GJ has really impressed me with yet another idea. The “Dry Erase Gourd” or “White Board Gourd”, is really brilliant. As GJ puts it “It’s both a centerpiece and communication aid.”
In big business it’s important to get ideas across and to be able to communicate. The gourd provides is an excellent way to brainstorm and develop big business ideas. One of the biggest problems with white boards are that they tend to be flat. People love sharing ideas on a big board, I would imagine they might love it more on a gourd. The natural shape of the gourd allows for the maximum creative flow and communication of ideas. Even the dry erase markers could be made into gourds for a matching aesthetic. Imagine being able to present your idea by simply rotating a gourd around, each section of the gourd could point out specific parts of what you are trying to communicate. Another advantage of the gourd is that you are not forced to see everything written or drawn on the gourd at one time, you can proccess the info way easier this way. I really like this idea and hope to have a prototype built soon.
I think GJ had more of a holiday table gourd communication thing in mind for this idea, I think there are many applications for a product like this and it could easily be marketed to everyone.

Thanks again GJ… My Mom loves your videos by the way!
